you learn something every day

My niece and nephews grandmother died early this morning. They're 4 yo, 2 yo and just under 4 months old. When my grandfather died (when I was 7) I don't remember anyone really explaining it to me nor do I remember much about it. So I asked my sister if she was going to tell them (at least Robert, the oldest) what was happening.

So this morning when she informed Robert of his grandmother dying, she said that someday he'll have to tell his sister Samantha (the 4 month old) all about "Granny K". Charley is a cat they had that ran away, and my sister explained to her sons Charley went to kitty heaven.

So Robert whispered in his sisters ear and said "Samantha, Granny K was sick in the hospital, then she went up to Heaven, where she can play with Charley. Then she can see the power of the dark side"

My sister said to Robert "The power of the dark side is just from Star Wars, it's pretend, a movie" And he responded back, "But I bet she can watch Star Wars up in Heaven." She said, "You're right! I bet she could watch Star Wars... if she wanted to"

When I was last down there (in december) we had watched episode 3 twice, and 4 5 and 6 (introducing him to Star Wars). It's funny how he remembered it and used it in this circumstance.
